Last week a group of three couples (friends for more than 53years) had been to Vietnam for a 10days trip. We took a flight from Ahmedabad to Hanoi,(means inside river as it is encased by red& black river! It is the capital city librated from colonisation in 1954 .weather was perfect for travelling, peak tourist season. Our stay was in hotel Dolcee,the only gold plated hotel opened about 10 years back! Next day we had been to Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, built in memory of Ho chi minh (Gandhi ji of Vietnam)his dead body is preserved in khaki uniform, people are in que to pay homage. National assembly & Presidential palace are in nearby vicinity! Next day we had a full day tour to Halong bay, a lmost two hours journey to northeast of Hanoi by road. on way there are Pearl factories ,a sort IVF centre for pearl production. Haylong bay & others bay are millions year old limestone rock formations.it is an UNESCO World Heritage site,modern seven wonders of world! it was almost whole day journey by luxury cruise! Last day of our stay at Hanoi we visited an old pagoda & then off to Ninh-Bing for a two hr boat ride through bay, mountains & caves surrounded by palms.
