Udaipur & Western Ghats

Last weekend i paid a visit to one of the most scary Shiva Temples in India,,, Many Shiva temples are on Hills, but this one is down a 80 feet Gorge. We were 16 friends (PG batch 2007&08). We meet up every 2-3 years,,, this time in Udaipur.

This place is Tilkeshwar Mahadev, about 80km from Udaipur, Nested between the White Marble Aravali hills, river flows as a waterfall just beside the temple, and is only accessible by rocky slippery steps, some iron stairs in between… There are iron chains (knotted in between), to be held while climbing down and up back.. Most visitors were younger than us, a thrilling spiritual experience..

We are on a 4 day Monsoon trip to Western Ghats: first to Hilly Raigad then to the nearby Konkan Coastline We scheduled our VFS norway appointment on 14 Aug morning & therafter, took a self drive Zoomcar to Raigad: a 160km 5 hour comfortable drive Last 20km drive was a secluded single uphill road amongst clouds & mist making visibility really poor.. Yesterday we stayed at a very basic property 5km before Raigad fort; stunning Views esp. the Swimming Pool Maharashtra is full of Maratha Empire Forts, many on Hills and offering breathtaking views/treks esp.in Monsoons Raigad is the former Capital of Shivaji Maharaj and his final resting place too It’s a 2.5 hour uphill Trek; very beautiful but with kids: bit risky in rains.. So we had prebooked the Ropeway for today morning 10am We just missed the 15Aug Flag hosting at The Fort by a few minutes.. Like most other ancient Indian forts, Raigad is also an architectural marvel Afternoon, we left for the western coastline where Real Konkan starts… We’ll be at Diveagar for 2 nights Though the Konkan region starts from Daman Till the Northern Tip of Kerala, Real Konkani vibe starts about 150km south of Mumbai… Clean beaches with Coconut and BetelNut treelines along the coast..& at many places; surrounded by hills.. Even before we completed Checkin at Diveagar hotel on Day3, kids couldn’t stop themselves from taking a dip.. Later in evening, we explored the diveagar beach Because of the lush green treeline extending upto the waves,, beach is sandy+muddy but Clean Day 4. we planned to visit the Harihareshwar temple and Shrivardhan beach (Rocky Coastline; also famous for its Golden Sand; Yes.., even so in Monsoons) Diveagar To Shrivardhan is undoubtably one of the most scenic coastal drives in India..
