Returning from refreshing trip to Dandeli in Karnataka. Dandeli was in our wishlist for some time. We found it as a wonderful town next to Kali river having lush green forests and a big water reservoir of Dam.
Had my first cruise experience last week.
We boarded the Majestic Cruise- Celebrity Beyond from Miami
It belongs to the premium fleet of the Royal Carribean cruises. This was originally a Greek ship. It has 16 floors and was accommodating 4000 odd people. Built in 2022, it was quite new and was extremely clean and well maintained. Rooms were excellent. Food was amazing. On 14 th floor was the buffet Ocean View restaurant. Had a separate Indian food station and this food was like in India!
As we left from Miami on Day 1
First stop was at Bahamas/ Perfect day@Cocokay
Next stop was at St Thomas Island ( part of the US Virgin Islands
Here we had to face heavy rains and ended up with multiple ‘ Noseeum’ insect bites while we waited under a shack in the rains!
Luckily we just had some itchy rashes which took a week to subside. Insect sprays were there but we had left them on the ship… very important to carry these sprays. It was a very run down place.
Next stop was St Martin’s
Island owned by French and Dutch. An imaginary line divides it into 2 and this was a beautiful place. We were on the Dutch side.
We took a water taxi to town. It was a small boat .
Beautiful beach with amazing turquoise blue of the waters and white sands. We found a shop owned by Indian Sindhis. They have been there since 50 years. The shop owner was very happy to share his experiences and about how things were extremely difficult when he first landed there.
The top of the ship had a board walk on the 16 th floor …. We did some really good walking to burn all the calories after eating the great food. Climbed 7 floors up and down 3-4 times a day with 12-13000 steps walk everyday.
