Thanks for adding such travel lovers dr Lahoti .Its nice to take tips from their travel experiences This time we decided to explore a not so touristy part of Italy ,province called Puglia. Very interesting and historic .we took a 4 hour flight from Gatwick London to Bari ,which is capital of Puglia .we hired a car from Bari and went to poliano A Mare .Its a coastal town built on cliffs .All white washed buildings.The cliffs have caves and grottos and a boat tour gives you a thrilling experience.A restaurant called Grotto palazzios is also built in a cave ,supposed to be most popular on Instagram and Facebook .you hear the thunder of waves under neath the cliffs which is very exciting .Food is average but very expensive .the old town is very historic and few Bollywood films have been shot there .the beach between the cliffs is very popular with the locals and tourists
Grotto palazzios restaurant Second day we went to another interesting town called Aberbello which has all lime stone houses with conical roofs called Trulli houses quite comfortable inside but most of them are shops and cafés now.Population of the town is 14000 About 40 kilometers from aberbello is another town called Ostuni .This town is also built on a hill with all white washed buildings.you have to climb up on cobblestone narrow alleys .It reminds you of old forts of India .the alleys are beautifully decorated with flowers and view from top is stunning with view of the sea and beaches Monopoli is a historic town and old fishing village Highlight of our trip was Matera ,another UNESCO world heritage sight .The whole old town is excavated in caves and grottos .Cobbled streets narrow alleys and lot of walking to explore the town
