We started from West New York and it took almost six hrs to reach to a Air BNB cottage ‘Shangrila’.This beautiful cottage is lying at the bank of Lake Onterio. Cottage has a terrace which gave look of huge lake. This was built on American side but gives view of Canadian side also. Next morning we drove for 45 min to Alexandria bay and took Uncle Sam cruise. We sailed in to clear water of St. Lawrence River with live commentary by a lady guide who described most of important islands which comes while sailing. It was all together a very pleasant experience to watch surrounding nature and its beauty and numerous islands. Many hotels, personal bungalows are built on these islands. The cruise allows to disembark on two main islands. One of them is Dark island. On this a guided tour is given for Singer Castle Here guide told us few musererois and haunted stories associated with this. This castle is built between 1902-1905 by owner of Singer machine which we all have seen in our home for stitching clothes. Still here some rooms are used as hotel. Another island is Heart island and Boldt Castle situated here. This is unfinished ( yr 1900-1904) palace famous for tragic love story constructed by George Boldt for his wife who died during construction. Guide narrated story of it when we reached there. This cruise also takes to Canadian side of river but it doesn’t allow to get down on land. One can enjoy many activities like boating, kayaking and peaceful walking on the bank of Alexendra bay. Varieties of food makes trip more joyful too. Thousand Island is a calm, beautiful and natural destination where people of all ages can enjoy peace and adventure both.
